Meet the Minds Behind Berg: Logistics Edition

Delivering Beyond Expectations

At Berg Propulsion, the Logistics team plays a vital—but often overlooked—role in our global operations. They’re the unseen force ensuring our products, spare parts, and materials move smoothly across borders, on time and in compliance with complex international laws. From booking shipments, customs clearance, to ensuring payment under the Letter of Credit and safeguarding our supply chain, their work powers our ability to deliver.

We sat down with members of the logistics team to better understand their day-to-day work and the value they bring to the business.

How does the logistics team ensure our products reach customers on time and in perfect condition?

While on-time delivery ultimately hinges on production readiness, either at our production facilities or at our suppliers, our logistics team does everything possible to ensure smooth execution from there. We work closely with trusted freight forwarders as well as our internal colleagues in our warehouses. And together we ensure a seamless execution including sufficient and robust packaging, efficient and careful handling and transport, communication and customer service. We collaborate with companies that understand the importance of our cargo and treat it with the urgency and care it deserves. Still, customs delays remain a challenge beyond our control.

What’s the most complex or exciting shipment you’ve handled recently?

We regularly manage complex shipments, each with its own kind of challenge. Recently, a notable case was shipping two large MTA 8 units to Turkey. The shipment required detailed planning, coordination, and follow-up due to its size and weight. Special permits for heavy road transport were required before we could drive the trucks carrying the units from our production facility on Öckerö, to the port of Gothenburg.

On the regulatory side, navigating the U.S. import tariffs and EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus has demanded significant attention and expertise.

How do you navigate global shipping regulations?

It’s our job to stay current on customs regulations in Sweden and the EU, as well as in countries we trade with. That includes sanctions from the U.S., China, and others—especially as our footprint grows into regions like India.

We also handle dangerous goods regulations, transport insurance, and national and international freight law. Thanks to harmonized international conventions, much of global trade is well-governed, but the work still demands constant attention to detail.

What does a typical day look like for the logistics team?

No two days are the same. We manage both domestic and international shipments—some large and time-sensitive, others small and routine. On any given day, we might be handling customs paperwork, negotiating Letters of Credit, collaborating with banks, supporting returns, planning future shipments, reporting to authorities, or advising colleagues or customers.

It’s hectic, dynamic, international, and full of moving parts—but that’s what makes it exciting.

How do you handle last-minute delivery requests?

In our team, we have learned to prioritize the most urgent cases and do our absolute best to deliver on expectations from both internal and external stakeholders. Our strong relationships with freight forwarders and customs agents are crucial to making this possible.

What makes you proud to be part of Berg’s shipping and delivery success?

We take pride in being a crucial part of Berg’s operational backbone. Whether ensuring the company gets paid through Letters of Credit, arranging international transports, or helping keep us compliant with customs regulations, we play an essential role.

At the end of the day, we know we’ve supported every function of the company—from sales and production to customer service. That’s something to be proud of.

“We’re not just booking shipments—we’re safeguarding Berg’s global flow of goods, money, and trust.” – said Louise Wallenborg, Logistics and Sustainability Manager.
